Game Overview
Labyrinth Quest is a unique, interactive game hosted on Farcaster, where players join forces as members of an elite hacker group, /1337, to guide the protagonist, Brian Armstrong, through a perilous journey inside the SEC offices. The game uniquely blends collaborative and competitive elements, requiring players to initially work together to navigate Brian through a virtual maze, but ultimately compete to submit the final command that leads to his escape.
Objective
To successfully navigate Brian through a maze from 0% to 100% completion. Players must issue directional commands to move Brian, with the ultimate goal of escaping undetected. While collaboration is essential for progression, individual players vie to be the one who delivers the final, correct command.
Gameplay Mechanics
Command System
- Players issue commands using the '!' syntax followed by a direction (north, east, south, west), e.g.,
!north
.
- Commands are processed in real time, affecting Brian's position within the global maze.
Maze Navigation
- The maze is a sequence of randomized directions that constitute the correct path from start to finish.
- Brian's progression through the maze is determined by the accuracy of the commands given by players.
Progression and Failure
- Correct commands advance Brian's progress by 1%.
- Incorrect commands result in Brian being "caught," resetting his progress to the last checkpoint or the start.
Checkpoints
- Checkpoints are placed at every 25% of the maze.
- Once a checkpoint is reached, it becomes the new starting point for Brian upon any subsequent failures.
Collaboration to Competition
- Early game emphasizes collective effort to progress through the maze.
- As the game nears completion, it shifts towards a competitive race to submit the final successful command.
